Fried Plantains
Fried Plantains are a traditional sweet treat in many West African countries. Try this recipe using cinammon and sugar and serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 3 large plantains
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preparation
- Cut each plantain in half crosswise; cut each half lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add plantains, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Cook 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden; drain on paper towels.
