A couple of tablespoons of bacon grease improves this greatly. I've also added diced bell peppers and/or diced fresh tomatoes at times with very good results. Love it! A great southern favorite.

- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups fresh corn kernels
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- Melt butter in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add fresh corn kernels, and sauté 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture is thickened. Stir in sugar and salt and freshly ground pepper.
