We grew up eating it in Michigan, so not strictly a southern dish. This will always hit the spot.

We loved the dish. It reminded me of the way my grandmothr cooked cabbage. This is a great everyday simple meal. For us I did not use bacon; I used extra virgin olive oil and green onion.

Bacon makes everything delicious! I used 4 pieces of turkey bacon and some garlic powder as my modifications. Yum! Just as good the next day too!

My family loves this, we sometimes gild the lily by adding a bit of cheese on top.
