Fresh-Pear Chutney

This chutney can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days.

This recipe goes with Spiced Turkey with Fresh-Pear Chutney

Cooking Light NOVEMBER 1998

  • Yield: 3 cups (serving size: 1/4 cup)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup currants
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced peeled fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 cups chopped peeled pear

Preparation

Combine first 8 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool 10 minutes. Place in a medium bowl; stir in pear.
