I love this sorbet on its own, but it's also fun to pour lemon-lime soda over it to make a Peach Fizz or combine it with a scoop of peach ice cream (and maybe a little bourbon) for a killer peach shake.

Fresh Peach Sorbet

"For easy peeling, score an 'x' on each peach. Boil in water 1 minute. Cool peaches in ice, and peel."

  • Yield: Makes 1 qt.


  • 2 pounds ripe peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vodka or orange liqueur


Process peaches in a food processor until smooth; strain into a bowl. Stir together warm water, sugar, and vodka or orange liqueur until sugar dissolves. Stir sugar mixture into peach puree. Chill 2 hours. Pour into container of a 1-qt. ice-cream maker; prepare according to manufacturer's instructions. Freeze in an airtight container.
