Fresh Mozzarella-Tomato-Basil Salad

Yield 6 to 8 servings


  • 1/2 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, drained
  • 2 large red tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 large yellow tomatoes
  • 1 cup pear tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded or chopped fresh basil
  • Garnish: fresh basil sprig

How to Make It

  1. Slice cheese in 1/4-inch slices. Alternate tomato and cheese slices on a platter; add pear tomato halves, and sprinkle with salt. Drizzle with olive oil. Cover and chill 4 hours. Just before serving, sprinkle with freshly ground pepper and basil. Top with a sprig of basil.
