French Toast au Chocolat

  • 2 tablespoon(s) butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon(s) granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup(s) milk
  • 12 slice(s) oatmeal or white bread
  • 12 slice(s) oatmeal or white bread
  • 1 tablespoon(s) powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/4 can(s) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoon(s) strawberry/raspberry all-fruit preserves
  • 2 teaspoon(s) unsweetened cocoa powder


  1. Combine first four ingredients and beat with a fork.

  2. Melt chocolate chips in microwave. Stir in preserves. Thinly spread over 6 slices of bread up to edges. Top with remaining slices of bread to make 6 sandwiches.

  3. Melt 1 Tbsp butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip 3 sandwiches into egg mixture and place in skillet. Cook 4-6 min, turning once. Remove to ovenproof platter and keep warm in 200 degree oven. Repeat.

  4. Mix powdered sugar and cocoa and sprinkle over toast. Serve with chocolate and/or preserves.
