French Bread Pizza

Yield 4 pizzas.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 (8-ounce) can no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 (6-inch) French rolls, split lengthwise
  • 3 ounces thinly sliced Canadian bacon
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

How to Make It

  1. Coat a saucepan with cooking spray; place over medium-high heat until hot. Add green pepper, onion, and garlic; saute until tender. Stir in tomato sauce and next 3 ingredients. Cook over medium heat until heated.

  2. Spread sauce over cut side of rolls. Top with bacon and cheese. Place on a baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 6 minutes or until heated.

Cook's Notes

To Freeze: Wrap each unbaked pizza in heavy-duty aluminum foil. Freeze up to 2 weeks.To Serve Two: Unwrap 2 frozen pizzas, and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
