Ingredients

4 large tomatoes, quartered
1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
3/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup cold water
4 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Place tomatoes and onion in a serving dish. Set aside.

Bring vinegar and next 7 ingredients to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Boil 1 minute.

Pour vinegar mixture over tomato mixture. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.

Note: Salad may be prepared in advance and chilled up to 3 days.
