This was delicious and so easy! The pear and pork go together nicely. The fennel is a strong flavor, but is delicious. I cooked it for an hour and a half, and it was perfectly done, so I recommend allowing more than the 70 minutes called for in the recipe. Great dish!

this recipe was phenomenal. the ingredients are simple, but the taste and quality are extremely satisfying. i made this for my boyfriend one evening while we watched movies: just cut everything up, seasoned and stuck in the roasting pan. when i opened the lid, the meat was perfectly juicy and the flavors of the pears, onions and fennel had mellowed out and complimented the meat fabulously. boyfriend could not stop praising, and we both ate WAY too much. needless to say, it's going to be a staple.

This recipe has been a staple in our house since the recipe came out. It's so easy to make and tastes great. We love it, kids and company love it, and any leftovers reheat well. Sometimes I use sweet potatoes instead of white when I want to boost the nutritional value, but the white potatoes generally work out better with the longer roasting time.

I've made this dish multiple times and I am always surprised by how delicious it is. It's a satisfying, simple, one-dish meal that really delivers on flavor.

Phenomenal! I have a new 'go to' to add to my list. The flavor is outstanding and it is so simple! I am going to have to incorporate pears and red onions in other roasts. It's a great flavor combo. This is a great weeknight item because you can put it in the oven and not worry about it at all. The only change I made was to cook it to 150 as recommended by other sites. While it rested the temp rose anyway. I find Real Simple recipes err on the side of caution for temps. Next time I might add another onion for those leftover sandwiches and wraps.

Valentine Dinner with roasted asparagus and double tomato soup. The onions and the pears were tasty with the pan juices. Pork was flavorful, soft and cooked for 70 minutes.

I have made this on several occasions and it always gets rave reviews. I love the simple flavor of crusty fennel on moist pork paired with the sweetness of onions and pears. I have also made this pork with roasted potatoes, carrots, and parsnips.
