Dutch Dainties - Mini Tarts

This is from Grandma Dunlop's recipe file. Mom made these every year for the holiday season. You can freeze them in tins and pull out for the holidays. A little fussy to make but worth the while.

  • 1/2 cup(s) butter
  • 3/4 cup(s) sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 egg yolk NOTE white used below
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
  • 1 egg white beaten stiff
  • 1 cup(s) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) cherries chopped or cut
  • 3/4 cup(s) raisins
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla


  1. Cook in greased and lightly floured mini muffin pan or use paper liners.

  2. Prepare butter tarts. Put approximately 1 teaspoon into each cup and using fingers form a hole for the filling.

  3. Add the very rich filling.

  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 to 10 min or until edges are just turning brown.
