While attending a writing seminar early in her career, Sylvia Plath onded with fellow poet Anne Sexton over cold martinis and matters of the macabre at hte Boston Ritz-Carlton.
6 tablespoons (3 oz.) gin or vodka
2 tablespoons (1 oz.) extra-dry vermouth
How to Make It
Freeze a martini glass 5 minutes. Combine gin or vodka and vermouth in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain mixture into prepared glass. Add olives, and serve immediately.
