These were great! I could not find dried pears at my grocery, so I used dried apricots, which were wonderful. I probably added extra lemon rind as well, as I didn't measure. I would add a bit more cardamom next time. My husband thought he didn't like scones (because he has only had the dried out nasty ones from coffee shops), but he really like these! I will continue to look for dried pears (probably Trader Joe's), but making them with dried apricots was wonderful too - give it a try!

The dough is indeed very sticky! I baked mine an extra five minutes and was glad I did. I doubled the cardamon and would again, and I'd also add some cinnamon and cloves. As is, these are good but not terrific.

I found dried pears at whole foods and made this recipe exactly as directed. It was good and I will definitely make this again. I do agree that it may need a bit more cardamom.

I make these all the time! They are purfect for breakfast with my coffee!!! Mmmmmmm!!!! I have used dried apricots and also dried figs! In order of prefrence I like fig, then pear then apricot. But they are all yummy and not too high in calories considering some other recipes! Very easy to make! Make ahead and store in the freezer!

These were pretty good scones. I used figs in my recipe and increased the cardamon to 1/2 tsp. They were easy enough to make, but I have had better.

I enjoyed these a lot! Next time I would maybe use one more tablespoon of buttermilk as my dough seemed a bit dry contrary to the review below. I will also try doubling the cardamom. Great with my afternoon tea!

This was one of the best scones I've ever had...not too dry, like scones can be, and the pears were the perfect sweetness. We served them with the curried butternut squash soup and they were a huge hit. I'll make them again!

I liked these scones and they were a true scone texture. The recipe was a nice basic scone but added a little more buttermilk because I thought the consistency was a bit dry. I had no cardamom so I used cinnamon but next time would add more, maybe double it. Adding more zest as stated below would be good too. I was unable to find dried pear, or dried apple for that matter, so I used freeze dried pear chips. I will keep looking for dried pears. With some tweaking, this could be a really good recipe!
