Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Marshmallow Creme Filling

Preparation

  1. Cream shortening in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg, beating well.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, soda, baking powder, and salt; mix well. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture; stir well. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for 8 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets, and cool completely on wire racks. Spread half of cookies with filling; top with remaining cookies.
