Decorator Icing

Yield about 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package plus 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine sugar and shortening in a medium mixing bowl; beat at low speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Add water slowly; beat 10 minutes. Add salt and vanilla; mix well.

  2. Decorator Icing will keep in an airtight container in refrigerator for up to 1 week.
