Creamed Green Peas

Yield 8 servings


  • 2 (10-ounce) packages frozen green peas
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

How to Make It

  1. Combine peas, water, salt, pepper, and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and cook over medium heat 8 minutes or until peas are tender.

  2. Combine flour and butter; stir until a smooth paste is formed. Add flour mixture to peas; stir well. Gradually add milk to pea mixture; cook over low heat 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring frequently. Serve immediately.
