Cream Gravy

This recipe goes with Matt's Chicken-Fried Steak

  • Yield: 1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons reserved chicken-fried steak pan drippings
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Cook drippings in a heavy skillet over medium heat until hot; add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until light golden brown. Gradually stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper.

Note: Vegetable oil may be added to drippings to make 3 tablespoons, if necessary.
