- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup half - and - half
- 4 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Combine first 3 ingredients in top of a double boiler; place over boiling water. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add egg yolks; cook, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Chill thoroughly.
