Cream Filling

Ingredients

1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup half - and - half
4 egg yolks, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients in top of a double boiler; place over boiling water. Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add egg yolks; cook, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Chill thoroughly.
