Yield 1 1/2 dozen


  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl; mix well. Spoon batter by tablespoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until edges are browned. Serve warm with soups or stews.
