I make these bean burgers often. I mash them pretty good. They cook perfectly, never fall apart. The ketchup is the best, I always double because my husband loves to slather it on!! Its really high in calories so I usually have over a salad.

Really good! Tastes like a yummy bean dip. The ketchup added a really good flavor.

I thought this recipe was messy and bland. If I were to attempt again, I would leave out the beans and just make with ground turkey. I thought the ketchup was original but I needed to double the spices to get enough kick.

The burgers stayed together quite well, but weren't the best black bean burgers I've ever had. I added some chipotle pepper paste to the burgers and that helped the flavor a lot. They were quick and easy though. I love the ketchup! That's worth making again!

Made these last night. They were not as good as I thought they could be. Definitely need a lot more flavor. Not sure what I could have added to make these better. If I made again I would only use black beans.

Worthy of a Special Occasion Just tried this recipe for the first time, and it was fantastic! Super easy, the patties didn't fall to pieces, and it tasted delicious with the spicy ketchup. Thank you! Kim Coventry

Loved these burgers. I added more bread crumbs to keep them together. I didn't even end up really making patties, just plopped a ball of the bean mixture into the pan and flattened it out a little bit. Also used three cups of black beans rather than the two-bean combo. The ketchup really "makes" this recipe. Pretty spicy stuff! Next time, I would increase the spices in the burger mixture a little bit. Makes a very filling meal. I served with the Shoestring Sweet Potato Fries. I give it five stars because I would make this again!

What a JOKE! The mix wouldn't stick together with superglue!I accidentally dumped more Chipotle pepper ( which I bought for $7.99 at Harris Teeter) than cumin, and STILL taste more cumin. Now I basically have a bean frittata (sans eggs) to goop up onto a bun. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Doesn't ANYONE FROM THE EDITORIAL STAFF SCREEN THESE BEFORE THEY ARE POSTED?

Decent. Actually makes around 5 patties. Fairly quick and easy and reheats well. I'd suggest mashing with a fork until almost COMPLETELY mashed, which helps them stick together a bit better.

Just as I was about to start forming the patties, I realized that I had added no seasoning to the bean mixture (CL is notorious for underseasoning vegetarian dishes.) I added a dash of salt since I used low-sodium beans as well as some chili powder and some turmeric but that was the only revision to the recipe. My patties didn't fall apart but I cooked them as crisp as possible. The ketchup was good with the burger. I will probably make again.

This recipe was simple and delicious!! The patties didn't fall apart at all. And I was also able to make 5 nice sized patties. I made them with sweet potato fries and it was a nice combo with the sauce. Very happy :-)
