Citrus-Ginger Sparkler

This spicy beverage is tasty on its own, but it's also nice as a mixer with vodka or sparkling wine.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces peeled fresh ginger, grated
  • 6 cups fresh orange juice (about 6 pounds oranges)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 3 medium lemons)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sparkling water, chilled

How to Make It

  1. Place ginger on several layers of damp cheesecloth. Gather edges of cheesecloth; squeeze cheesecloth bag over a small bowl to extract about 1/4 cup ginger juice. Discard pulp.

  2. Combine ginger juice, orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar in a large pitcher; stir until sugar dissolves. Chill at least 2 hours. Stir in sparkling water; serve immediately.
