Cinnamon Snowball Cookies

Not sure where it first originated, but this recipe has been passed down through our family for generations and is a 'must' at the holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup(s) Butter
  • 1-1/4 cup(s) Powdered sugar
  • 1-1/2 cup(s) Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup(s) Uncooked old fashioned oats (Quaker Oats)
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Vanilla
  • 3/4 cup(s) Ground walnuts
  • 3/4 cup(s) Ground pecans

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 300.F
  2. Beat butter to cream. Add sugar, flour, salt, and spices gradually to butter, beating to blend well. Stir in oats by hand. Blend vanilla and ground nuts into mixture. Mix well. Shape dough to make balls 1/2 inch in diameter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 20 minutes. Transfer from cookie sheet to wire rack. When slightly cooled, roll in powdered sugar.

  3. Makes about 4 dozen.
