Ingredients

  • 1 (29-ounce) can pear halves in light syrup, undrained
  • 1/4 cup red cinnamon candies
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Drain pears, reserving syrup; set pears aside. Combine syrup, cinnamon candies, and lemon juice in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook until cinnamon candies dissolve, stirring occasionally. Add pears; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Transfer pears to a medium bowl with a slotted spoon; cover and set aside.
  2. Bring remaining liquid to a boil; cook over high heat 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced to about 3/4 cup. Pour syrup over pears. Cover and chill at least 30 minutes.
