Ingredients

1/4 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cinnamon chips
1/3 cup chopped pecans
2 large egg whites
2/3 cup packed brown sugar

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°.

Beat butter with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, vanilla, and salt, beating well.

Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Gradually add flour to butter mixture, beating just until moist. Press flour mixture into bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle cinnamon chips and pecans over flour mixture.

Beat egg whites with a mixer at high speed until foamy. Gradually beat in 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form. Spread egg white mixture over cinnamon chips and pecans. Bake at 350° for 20 to 22 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; cut into 16 bars.
