- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 4 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
- 3 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to Make It
Melt butter and chocolate in top of a double boiler over simmering water. Remove from heat; stir in sugar and salt. Gradually add milk, stirring well to blend. Cook over simmering water 7 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cool slightly; serve over ice cream or pound cake. Store in refrigerator.
