Ingredients
- 1 cup(s) flour unsifted
- 3/4 cup(s) sugar
- 1/2 cup(s) nuts chopped
- 2 tablespoon(s) cocoa
- 2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
- 2 tablespoon(s) shortening, melted
- 1/2 cup(s) milk
- 3/4 cup(s) brown sugar packed
- 1/4 cup(s) cocoa
- 1 3/4 cup(s) hot water
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In mixing bowl, combine flour with sugar, nuts, 2 tbsp. cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Add vanilla, shortening and milk; mix until well blended. Spread in ungreased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Combine brown sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa and hot water; pour over batter. Bake about 45 minutes or until cake topping is set. Serve warm or cool, topped with cream or whipped cream.
