Chocolate Frosting

Yield frosting for one 15- x 10-inch cake


  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 (1-ounce) squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients, except vanilla, in a large saucepan; bring to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Boil rapidly 1 minute; remove from heat, and cool slightly.

  2. Add vanilla, and beat constantly with a wire whisk until mixture begins to thicken. Use immediately.
