Chocolate-Dipped Spoons

Stir a little sweetness into mugs of steaming drinks like cocoa or coffee.

Yield: 35 to 45 spoons


  • 1 12-oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons shortening
  • 35 to 45 plastic spoons
  • Garnish: candies for decorating


  1. Line baking sheets with parchment paper; set aside. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave on medium for 2 minutes, or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds. Add shortening to thin the chocolate; stir gently. Dip each plastic spoon into chocolate mixture to cover the bowl of the spoon; place on parchment paper to set. Arrange candies on spoons as desired while chocolate is still soft; let cool completely.
