Made this with several different types of pie crust, even a chocolate cookie crumb crust. Wow!

I made this recipe for the first time at Christmas and it was easy and fantastic. I ended up making five pies because it was such a hit. My family is already wanting me to make another one. I highly recommend.

This was very good. Everyone really liked it. It is an uncomplicated, easy-to-make dessert that provides a very pleasant chocolate hit. I used a homemade chocolate cookie crumb crust (Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers + melted butter; baked for 7 min at 350) and I put in way more (Belgian bittersweet) chocolate than 4 oz (maybe 7 oz?). I also cut the sugar to 3/4 c. Used whole milk. I made it close to serving time, so I put it in the freezer to cool quickly and gel; this worked great. Pie holds its form after it sets, which is really nice. I took off a star because it is so unhealthy. It is kind of a tasty "fat pie". I served it as an Easter dessert, so I was happy to "overlook" its nutritional profile. In any case, if you can handle the calories and saturated fat, it is scrumptious and will please most everyone who likes chocolate. (By the way, it is really a chocolate custard pie, rather than a "cream" pie, since it contains no cream but is custard base with chocolate...).
