Ingredients
- 4 stick(s) Butter - unsalted
- 1 cup(s) Cocoa Whisk these two together
- 2 cup(s) Hot Water Slowly add the hot water.
- 4 cup(s) Cake Flour
- 2 1/2 cup(s) Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) Salt
- 4 whole(s) Eggs
- 1 cup(s) Buttermilk
- 2 teaspoon(s) Baking Soda
- 2 teaspoon(s) Vanilla
- CHOCOLATE FROSTING
- 3 cup(s) Heavy Cream
- 24 ounce(s) Semi Sweet Cocoa
- 2 teaspoon(s) Vanilla
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350. Prepare 3 round cake pans, sprinkle with cocoa.
- Whisk together butter and cocoa, slowly add boiling water. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt. Add in eggs, one at a time, buttermilk, b.s. and vanilla. Incorporate cocoa mixture to flour mixture and blend thoroughly. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool.
- Prepare frosting and chill until cakes are cooled and ready to frost. Refrigerate after frosted. Enjoy!
