Excellent mild flavor. Very easy to make!

After reading the other comments about it needing more flavor, I added a full tablespoon of garam masala and just a dash of smoked paprika. It was great-even the hubby liked it and a good meatless main dish.

Very tasty. Will be making this again!

I can not stress how easy this was to make! We used our family Garam Masala recipe and the flavor was just lovely. Curry in our house usually takes half a day - obviously this not a curry that has stewed all day but was a lovely weeknight meal. Will be making again!

I really liked this recipe. It tasted very fresh, and made plenty for leftovers. The only thing I would change is that the flavor is a little plain. I added extra salt and pepper to bring out the flavor, and that seemed to do the trick just fine. I would also have to say that this was nothing like any curry I have tried, so perhaps curry is an inaccurate description.

Hm. Normally I give CL recipes very high marks, so I made this one exactly as written. Big mistake. Needed a major overhaul. Like the previous poster said, it's a one-note stew. It's healthy, which is great, but my family didn't enjoy it. :(

This rating may be a little unfair since I used Tofutti rather than greek yogurt but I am blogging about a 40 day vegan cleanse and had to omit the dairy. This is fast, healthy and satisfying. A great weeknight meal. The only downside is that my husband doesn't care for Indian food, but I like it because I'm trying to eat less meat and more vegetables and legumes.

It was fine, or as the husband said, passable. However, when there are wonderful recipes out there, I don't want one that's just okay. I thought it had plenty of flavor without adjusting the seasonings. I agree with other reviewers who described it as "one note"

Yes, this recipe is easy and quick. But, it's also very bland if made following the recipe word for word. I added more tomato because it just seemed dry. I also added more garam masala, as well as curry powder to up the flavor. In the end by dish had the heat I normally associate with curry dishes, however it tasted to much like tomato. I probably won't try to make this again.

This was the worst "curry" I've ever made. It was a bland, one note stew that needed some major doctoring up(chicken stock, ginger, more of the masala, maybe some garlic) and even after, it was just an OK dish. I didn't feel like trashing it, but I will never make this again. Are you tasting your recipes Cooking Light? Because I know you have some very good curry dishes out there. This one was just not one of them.

Excellent dish! I doubled the spice and added 2 large white potatoes, cubed. It increased the cooking time, but this allowed the flavors to blend together better.

I made this after reading the comments, so I added my own spices. I used probably 2 or 3 TABLEspoons of the masala, and added a teaspoon or so of spicy paprika, along with 3 cloves of chopped garlic. I also used frozen spinach because fresh spinach isn't sold where I am. Everyone loved it. Definitely increase and add spices to taste! I tried it before adjusting the spices and it was bland as bland could be.

Super simple recipe and very tasty! Great for a weeknight meal and very little time. I will definitely add this to our monthly dinner menu list. Very healthy also.

Fabulous! We added some crushed peanuts for texture.

I really enjoyed this recipe for a quick weekday meal. I followed others suggestions and used 3 garlic cloves, added more garam masala and some cayenne pepper. My biggest divergence was to use some chicken tenderloins which I grilled and added for my meat-loving fiance. I think the best part was how much better this meal was for leftovers the next day. Make extra rice!

This is such a yummy easy weeknight recipe - love that it's vegetarian and very comforting . . . I did go with other reviewers and add garlic, some spicy paprika and extra garam masala. Delish!!

The good: Truly quick and simple to make for a weeknight, garam masala has a pleasant flavor, and the spinach makes it an easy way to get more leafy greens. The needs-tweaking: My husband agrees it's a little flat-tasting. I added two cloves of garlic, and might try adding a teeny bit of cayenne pepper too next time. The "huh?": None of my local grocery stores carry a 15-ounce can of crushed tomatoes, whether no-salt-added or otherwise. Is that a critter that only exists in New York or something? Had to buy a 28-ounce can and save the rest for some other use.

This is a really quick, easy, filling dish. Didn't use basmati rice, just had white on hand, worked great, although basmati is always better. Made it to freeze up for lunches will make again, may add more spinach.

Comforting, quick and good...not out of this world, but it's a good vegetarian dish that doesn't require much time or work. Calories are vastly underestimated (a regular problem with cooking light, I've found). I reduced the amount of rice to 1/3 cup cooked basmati rice to bring down the calories, but even doing that, the nutrition is as follows: Calories: 386 Fat: 7.1 Carbs: 68 Fiber: 12.8 Protein:19 That being said, you don't really miss the extra rice if you cut it down as it makes a generous portion (approximately 13 ounces of food).

Quick, easy and very tasty. Good over couscous or quinoa as well.

This was the worst "curry" dish I have ever tried to make. I followed the recipe exactly. Bland. Added more spice + more salt. Did not help. I wish I used the money for the ingredients at an actual Indian restauant.

Okay. Fast but bland. Next time I'll follow other reviewer's suggestions and add more garam masala and paprika. Also, 1/2 t of salt isn't nearly enough.

I loved this recipe! It is so easy and delicious. It's especially easy if you use the pre-cooked brown rice in the pouch. I will definitely make it again.

I made this last night and it was great. I did modify the recipe thought after reading other reviews. I added an extra half can of tomato and added the masala to taste, much more than the recipe called for as well as some madras hot curry powder. I also added some zucchini. It came out awesome and my husband loved it too. It was so easy to make, no question I will make this again.

This is a good base recipe, but you definitely have to make modifications. I added 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika and 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper. It was really good, but I think next time I might add more garam masala and maybe more smoked paprika. If I didn't make the additions, the recipe as is would be 2 stars.

I have made this recipe twice and have enjoyed it both times. I agree that the garam masala should be increased to taste. I will try the paprika as suggested below next time. I also doubled the spinach. I will make this again - probably with some regularity.
