Interesting combination and delicious on a cold night. Directions were a little confusing--not sure if you could make it same night where directions say to freeze when cool and then thaw and cook again? We made same night we served it.

I used ground turkey instead of chicken and less liquid. The first time it turned out way too soupy. I also have tried this very successfully by using a slow cooker for about 7 hours.

This is a very tasty recipe. The chickpeas and swiss chard are ingredients that I don't use very often, so this recipe adds some variety to my diet. I also use ground turkey most of the time, and it works just fine. I have proudly served this soup/stew to company and got kudos.

I think of this as more of a soup than a stew. I use turkey instead of chicken and add 1/2 tsp cayenne for a light spiciness.
