I made this just as the recipe said. The chicken smelled delicious when cooking...I think this would be a great start for chicken noodle soup. No one in my family was particularly thrilled with the dumplings. They were just ok, with not a lot of flavor.

Wow, is all I can say. This reminded me of the old fashioned southern style classic chicken and dumplings my Dad made the family when I was a child. I thought I would never be able to make chicken and dumplings like him because I was intimidated by the thought of making dumplings. This was oh so easy.

Loved this one. I added one chopped onion, 3 chopped ribs of celery and 1/2 box of chicken broth. I cheated and used Bisquick dumplings but did add the poultry seasoning to the dry mix. It was my best batch yet! I used 3 large chicken breasts for a time saver in prep.

I have made this several times with Chicken, but this time made it by boiling my leftover Turkey carcus from Christmas and used better than turkey buillion from the grocery jar as my chicken buillon! My family loved it.

This was AMAZING! I have never in my life tried to make chicken & dumplings from scratch, and I was VERY pleased with the outcome! It was a huge hit with the entire family. I will definatly make this meal again. I used chicken breast instead of a whole chicken, and it was wonderful. Had a lot of flavor, and goes in our top 3 favorites now! YUM!

I have been making this recipe from the 1985 Southern Living Annual Recipes Cookbook...since 1985...Absolutely the best recipe out there.. I have always done the drop method for the dumplings. Everyone gobbles this up and is looking for!
