  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced leek
  • 1 cup sliced baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 (14 1/2-ounce) cans fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
  • 2/3 cup uncooked alphabet pasta
  • 2 cups chopped cooked chicken
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  1. Heat oil over medium heat in a Dutch oven. Add leek and next 3 ingredients; sauté until tender. Add water and broth. Bring to a boil; add pasta, and cook 5 minutes or until pasta is done. Stir in chicken and remaining ingredients.
