1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 3 minutes. Pour into a bowl; chill at least 1 hour or until cold.
2. Strain mixture through a sieve into a pitcher; discard cherries. Stir in lemon juice and grenadine. Serve over ice.
