Cheese Straws

To make these addictive nibbles even more quickly, shred the cheese in the food processor before you begin.

Yield: Serves 4


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup butter, softened


  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor or heavy-duty mixer; chill.
  2. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness; cut into 2"x1/2" strips. Arrange on ungreased baking sheets; bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
