Cheese Sauce

Yield 1 1/4 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Dash of white pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup (3 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

How to Make It

  1. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat; add flour, salt, and pepper, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add cheese; stir until cheese melts.
