This is a GREAT recipe for adult picnics. The sweet and savory combination goes really well with a salty side dish (like pickles!). Go easy on the butter as it can make the sandwich too heavy at home; it's great to pack for work without heating and then you can just microwave to melt the cheese.
Cheddar and Chutney on Sourdough
Serve with your favorite variety of chutney and some sweet, tangy pickles.

Ingredients
- 4 thick slices sourdough bread
- 4 tablespoons chutney
- 6 ounces grated English Cheddar
- 2 tablespoons butter
Preparation
- 1. Spread 2 bread slices with chutney. Add Cheddar to both slices; top with remaining bread slices, and press together gently.
- 2. Melt butter in a large cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add sandwiches to pan, and cook 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until cheese melts and bread is golden brown.
