Cheddar Cheese Pastry

Yield pastry for 1 cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup (1 ounce) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons cold water

How to Make It

  1. Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in cheese. Sprinkle cold water (1 tablespoon at a time) evenly over surface; stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape into a ball.
