Charoset (huh-ROW-set)

Yield Makes 3/4 to 1 1/4 cups
My mother grinds the walnuts in the food processor but finely dices the apples by hand. Prep: 10 minutes.

  • 1 cup chopped apple (Gala or other firm, red variety)
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon kosher red wine

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients. For a chunkier texture, chill until ready to serve. For a smoother texture, pulse in a food processor or blender until well blended and coarsely ground; chill until ready to serve, or serve at room temperature.
