I made this for Thanksgiving this year and everyone loved them. The kids weren't even scared away be the onions! Next time I would double the recipe. I made the topping the night before and warmed it up before putting on the pastry to bake.

I made this recipe twice last year for holiday parties, and it was a huge hit. I recommend doubling the recipe if you want to serve more than five or six people. If you are taking it to someone else's house, ask if you can bake it there - it's so much better warm.

I made these for a New Year's Eve party. I made the onion mixture the day before and assembled the next morning. Just popped them in the oven right before our guests arrive. Of all the appetizers they were the biggest hit Will double next time. Well worth the time. Very pretty too!

I really liked the sweetness of the carmelized onions and the tartness from the apples. The apples weren't too tart, so it was a good pairing. They were so good, I will cater these for a wedding!

I made these for a progressive dinner at Christmastime. I made the apple-onion mixture the night before, then just heated it slightly when I was ready to assemble. My husband and I had a little assembly line to put them together - so quick and easy! They were SO tasty - a big hit! I am making them again for a potluck cocktail party this weekend!

This was delicious and easy to prepare. I served it at room temp.

Delicious! I assembled then on a baking pan & refrigerated them, covered, until cooking time. Be sure to flour the work surface before working with the puff pastry (my first time) and grease the baking pan. I found that the onion-apple mix made more than enough, and the leftover was great on sliced pork loin. A crowd-pleaser for sure!

I made this on the week-end and it was a sensational hit. They were gone in no time. I will certainly make these again, and again. I loved them. I probably would only make this for appetizers at any time. I did not alter anything. I used it as an appetizer and served with wine. No hints, it was just perfect. I loved them. Thank you

Made this as a Thanksgiving appetizer and everyone thought it was delicious. I prepared the onion and apple mixture in advance and assembled the bites the day of. Because the oven was in use for the turkey, we used the toaster oven. It worked fine, but seemed to be done after about 10 minutes' time instead of 15-20. The onion apple mixture yields a TON. We ended up using both sheets of puff pastry (2 in the package I bought) and could have easily have done a third puff pastry. If I were making again, I would halve that mixture.

I made this for two parties and so far and they are the first appetizer to go. I have used both dried and fresh thyme but prefer the fresh. Carmelize the onions in a dutch oven with a lid in the oven. This leaves your hands free to do other things. Stir the onions once in a while and add the apples in the last few minutes.

Delicious. Definitely use parchment paper. Easy to make. I used New England apple orchard apples. Will make this again.

I honestly don't understand all the rave reviews. these were very bland. maybe a more flavorful cheese like brie would work better. I'm trying to think of a way to salvage these for the party. maybe a cran/orange relish on top.

These are SOO good - the apple/onion & cheese flavors really complement each other well. These can be frozen after baking for *months* in a ziplox, and when needed, just reheat on 350 x 10 minutes and they are just as tasty! Definitely a keeper and great for company!
