This was a delicious sauce. My eleven year old daughter made it and it was a hit at our Thanksgiving dinner. Easy and delicious!

Don't be tempted to skip the lemon juice: It doesn't affect the flavor, but it does prevent the sugar from crystallizing.
Yield: Makes 3 cups

- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 cup whipping cream
- Melt butter in a 3-qt. heavy saucepan over medium heat; add sugar and lemon juice, and cook, stirring constantly with a long-handled wooden spoon, 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture turns light golden brown. Gradually add cream, and cook, stirring constantly, 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. (Mixture will bubble and spatter when adding cream.) Remove from heat, and cool 30 minutes.
