i think i messed up this recipe somehow. used a pre-made crust that was too shallow, which may have been part of the problem. the topping wasn't crunchy. should have used more caramel - couldn't taste it at all. overall, i wasn't impressed, but i think it was my fault and not the recipe's!

This is the best apple pie I've ever tasted! I never made an apple pie before and this was so easy and delicious. I made this for a party and everyone raved about it. You must try this recipe!! I did cheat though since I was pressed for time and used a premade crust:)

Decent apple pie recipe, but I still recommend the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie recipe on My Recipes over this one. Served to company and it was pretty well-received, but couldn't taste the caramel even though I used a LOT more than recommended, based on everyone's feedback. Used refrigerated pie crust.

Pretty good pie! There were a lot of steps involved, but it came out delicious. Although, I sort of missed the top crust most apple pies have. And like other reviewers, I couldn't taste the caramel at all. (But still very good!) Step-by-step photos on my blog: http://me-myself-and-pie.blogspot.com/2009/12/caramel-apple-crumb-pie.html

Good flavor, but my apples were still a bit crunchy in the end. Have used other recipes where the pie bakes for at least 45 minutes (or more), with better results. Would make again, but would bake longer next time.
