Candied Sweet Potatoes

Yield 8 to 10 servings


  • 6 medium-size sweet potatoes, cleaned and peeled
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

How to Make It

  1. Slice sweet potatoes lengthwise into 1/4-inch-thick slices.

  2. Arrange sweet potatoes in a lightly greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with sugar and cinnamon. Pour melted butter over top.

  3. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Baste potatoes with syrup formed in bottom of baking dish. Cover and continue baking 25 minutes. Remove cover, and bake 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
