Bland. If I were to make it again, I'd mix sausage with the ground beef or do only sausage. Needs more cheese and sauce inside the calzone. I'd make my own crust next time too - the canned crust has a boring flavor.
Calzones with Italian Tomato Sauce

This was a good filling. My boyfriend said it was like an itialian sloppy joe-taste was similar. I did add red pepper flakes to the filling for added spice and didn't add the sauce and cheese on top-I don't think it was missed. I used the premade dough from our grocery store rather than the packaged kind, I have tried both and feel I get better results with the fresh pizza dough. I served with a side of pizza sauce and side salad. I will likely make again.

I used Jimmy Dean Sausage and Pepperoni and added Italian Seasoning to the meat and cheesemixture (I also added a little more cheese). When brushing with Olive Oil I added a little Parmesan Cheese to the Oil. All in all a great recipe.

Very tasty and my husband LOVED them. Since it was my first time making this recipe making and sealing the calzones took the most time. But the taste was fantastic.

I followed the instructions pretty closely, except I used ground turkey instead of beef, Pampered Chef pizza crust instead of canned, used regular tomato paste instead of low sodium, and I forgot to brush the calzones with olive oil. I baked them on a cooking stone for exactly 25 minutes. We used Bertolli Marinara sauce, which was perfect on top. They were so good! I will definitely make these again and make a double batch to freeze some for later. Can't wait! These would be great for casual get togethers and family dinners. I rolled out the dough on a 12x15 cutting board with flour to keep the dough from sticking. Worked perfect.

WOULD BE BETTER IF THERE WERE NUTRITIONAL VALUES FOR THOSE ON SPECIALTY EATING NEEDS.

My husband loved this! I added onion, bell pepper, garlic & red pepper to the ground beef while it cooked. Then I added sliced pepperoni along with the other ingredients. I will definitely make this again.

These were good, but the original recipe just needs a little spicing up. I used half ground beef, half hot italian sausage. I also cooked the meat with onions and garlic and added a little extra italian seasoning while it was cooking. I brushed the crusts with olive oil mixed with parmasean cheese and a touch of garlic powder and then served them with warmed marinara and a caesar salad. My husband and brother loved them and they were fairly easy, so I'll keep this recipe around!
