Ingredients
- 2 cup(s) flour
- 1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
- 12 tablespoon(s) butter cold and diced
- 1/2 cup(s) buttermilk
- 2 egg cold
- 1 cup(s) cheddar (extra sharp) grated
- 1 tablespoon(s) milk
Preparation
- preheat oven to 425 degrees
- place 2 cups flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl
- with mixer on low, slowly add butter pieces and butter is the size of peas
- combine buttermilk, 1 egg and beat lightly - add to flour mixture slowly
- in small bowl combine cheddar with small amount of flour - add to mixer slowly
- turn off mixer - transfer dough to well floured board and lightly knead (6 times)
- roll dough into rectangle (10x5 inches)
- cut into 8 biscuits
- transfer to pan lined with parchment paper
- coat with egg / milk mixture (1 egg with 1 tbsp milk - mixed)
- bake 20-25 minutes until tops browned and cooked through)
