Buttermilk Candy Frosting

Yield enough for one 13- x 9- inch cake


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter milk
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened

How to Make It

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil 3 minutes or until syrup mixture reaches 220°, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in butter. Cool.

  2. Beat on medium speed of electric mixer about 5 minutes or until thick enough to spread.
