not sure why all were having "sticky" problems as not an issue. BTW, appleasauce is used IN the brownie mix itself and the only things that go in the blender are the baked brownie crumbles and the bourbon. check recipe

applesauce is baked IN the brownie mix (in place of oil), not added after. There is no stickiness. I added coconut rum. Yum.

These were very tasty. No goo, not too dry. The liqueur could be changed--what goes good with chocolate? Hmmm-khalua, various schnapps, amaretto,etc. Also, this is made with a mix-you don't have to follow these directions, just make up the mix. Brownies baked-crumbled & whirled with liqueur of choice.

I was going to make these, for Christmas Goodie bags. I make about 30, for the people at my husband's work. Not a good idea! I just made regular Brownie mix, package directions, and added 3 tablespoons of Peppermint Scnapps, in place of the Bourbon.After the food processing, I put the mix in the refrigerator for a couple of hours, to harden up, and then rolled, small walnut sized balls in Confectioners' sugar. I got 42.....These are way too time consuming. Of course, if you have kids...GREAT recipe....fun , fun, fun for them to do!

I made these with khalua. I didn't have an problems with stickiness. They were delicious and a big hit with the family at Christmas.

I'd like to know what brand of mix those of you who had success with this recipe used. (And did it contain a syrup packet?) I went to two stores looking for a DH mix, and ended up with a BC 18oz box with fudge packet. It was very sticky - too sticky. (And yes, I'm following the directions and putting the applesauce in before it's baked.)

Thank you for sharing your experiences. After reading about the "sticky mess", I thought it would be best to let the brownies completely cool before I mixed the bourbon in to make the ball. The recipe worked out perfectly, and the brownies were quite tasty.
