Brown Sugar Sauce

Ingredients

1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine,
1 1/2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon hot water
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Combine butter, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat 8 minutes or until sugar dissolves, stirring constantly. Stir in hot water. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Gradually add milk and vanilla; stir well.
